Ozarka College To Host Community Health Fair

Ozarka College will host a Community Health Fair on Tuesday, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ash Flat campus, 64 College Drive.The health fair is a service project of the College's practical nursing program. Admission is free and open to the public.White River Medical System Community Education will sponsor free blood-pressure, glucose and body-mass checks; cholesterol and HbA1c screenings will be available. Cholesterol and HbA1c screenings will begin at 7:00 a.m., and participants are asked to fast after midnight before the screenings.   Vision and Hearing tests will be performed by the Ozarka LPN students.The Baxter Regional Medical Center Mobile Mammography Unit will provide breast-care information and screenings.  Survival Flight will sponsor an air ambulance demonstration, and Ash Flat Fire Department will have a unit on display.   The West Plains Fire Department will bring the Safety House and perform fire safety demonstrations.   Sharp County Police Department will do kid's fingerprinting for the child ID program.The Sharp County Health Unit of the Arkansas Department of Health will offer information on the Be Well Arkansas program. The American Red Cross will have a blood Drive.   UAMS will provide information on stroke preventionSharp & Fulton County Extension Office, New Beginnings Pregnancy Help Center, Tri-County Medical Supply and Mission of Hope will have information about their services.   A basic CPR instruction tutorial will be presented at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.There will also be a bake sale with proceeds benefiting the Back-to-School Backpack Program.
