Moxley Named Academic All-Star At Ozarka College

Ozarka College has selected Megan Moxley of Guion, Arkansas as recipient of the Academic All-Star scholarship program. Upon completion of her Associate of Arts degree in General Education, Moxley plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in the fall of 2018.The purpose of this program is to recognize the scholarly and service achievements of Arkansas' two-year college students. Academic All-Stars will be recognized at the Arkansas Community Colleges annual Awards Brunch on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Each two-year college with provide the All-Star with a $500 scholarship to complete his/her final semester at the two-year college. Traditionally, All-Star recipients also receive a full tuition scholarship from the Arkansas college or university of their choice to complete their four year degree.To apply to be an Academic All-Star, Moxley was required to meet eligibility requirements such as being an Arkansas resident, enrolled in a public two-year college, expected to continue enrollment through at least Fall 2017, have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher. Moxley, who has a 4.0 GPA, meets or exceeds all of those requirements. Applicants were also required to demonstrate involvement in campus and/or community activities. Moxley is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and serves Ozarka College as a student ambassador."Megan is a gifted scholar and exceptional student leader who takes pride in being active in her church and community, " said Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka College vice president of student services. "At UCA, Megan plans to double major in English and Spanish, then pursue a master's degree so she can teach at a community college. "
