Construction has started on the new 18,560 square-foot Student Services Center on the Ozarka College - Melbourne campus.
Construction Network, Inc. of Jonesboro has been hired as the general contractor for the approximately $3.5 million building and construction is expected to be complete by fall 2014.
Ozarka College has developed and launched a construction page within its website at www.ozarka.edu for updates on this community initiative. Everyone is invited to visit the page to view a live video stream of construction and other important information, including the capital campaign. A link is available on the homepage.
The Ozarka College Foundation is currently soliciting private donations for the capital campaign, which will raise funds to furnish the Student Services Center. Naming opportunities are available with the promise to leave a lasting legacy at Ozarka College.
The campaign committee, co-chaired by Mike Watson of Ash Flat and Connie Moser of Calico Rock, is committed to raising $500,000.
The two-story building will house all student services, various individual and group study areas, community meeting rooms, a video conferencing center, additional banquet space for college and community use, and a state of the art culinary learning lab.
Architects Wittenberg Delony & Davidson of Fayetteville worked closely with college administration, faculty, staff, students and community representatives to create the modern, high-tech, student- and community- centered building. The design phase progressed to ensure the college had the most efficient and effective design possible.
Earlier this year, the Ozarka College Board of Trustees authorized the sale of approximately $3 million in bonds to finance construction of the Student Services Center.
