Each semester, the College Success classes at Ozarka College pick a service project to be involved in as a way to give back to the community. This fall, Joy Underwood's class chose a nonperishable food drive.  The students collected items from within their class, as well as setting up a collection box in the student commons area of the Mammoth Spring campus.  "It is important for our students to learn the value of community service and involvement," said James Spurlock, director of operations at Ozarka College - Mammoth Spring. "I was very pleased when Mrs. Underwood told me about her students' food drive project."  The students collected two large boxes full of nonperishable food items during this two week-long project. This food will be donated to the Hunger Hero Project, which is a community wide food drive-in that the public schools and many of the area businesses collect items from their students and patrons to help restock the Alton, Mammoth Spring and Thayer food pantries leading up to the holiday season.  The Student Government Association at Ozarka College has decided to partner with Underwood's class to continue this project through Dec. 9.  If you would like to be involved with this project, donations can be made at the Ozarka College-Mammoth Spring campus, located at the corner of 5th Street and Archer Avenue.  For more information, please contact Spurlock at 870-625-0411 or by email at jaspurlock@ozarka.eduÂ
