Ozarka College will break ground on a new Student Services Center on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. on the Melbourne campus, 218 College Dr., and invites the community to attend. The two-story building will house all student services, various individual and group study areas, community meeting rooms, additional banquet space for college and community use, and a state of the art culinary learning lab. Architects Wittenberg Delony & Davidson of Fayetteville have worked closely with college administration, faculty, staff, students and community representatives to create a modern, high-tech, student- and community-centered building. The design phase has progressed over the past few months to ensure the college has the most efficient and effective design possible. The design and blueprint phase was completed last month and is currently out for bid to contractors. Earlier this year, the Ozarka College Board of Trustees authorized the sale of approximately $2.9 million in bonds to finance construction of the Student Services Center. Dr. Richard Dawe, Ozarka president noted: “This is an exciting major project for Ozarka College and the Melbourne region. Our students will now have a high tech facility where all their student service needs may be met. It will also be an excellent facility for community event use.” Large-scale renderings are currently available in the lobby of the John E. Miller Education Complex on the Melbourne campus, as well as area public buildings, schools and businesses. The community is invited to stop by to view them. The public is invited to view the construction page on the Ozarka website or may enter via the following link directly: http://www.ozarka.edu/blogs/ozarka_construction/page.cfm/About-Us For more information, please contact Carol Langston, development officer and executive assistant to the president, at 870-368-2006 or at carol.langston@ozarka.edu.
