Ozarka College recently received approval from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education to begin offering an Applied Science degree in Welding, and the program is now accepting applications for new students. Once a student has completed the admissions application, they may register for fall 2018 courses. Students may also register for courses online through myOzarka at www.ozarka.edu. The welding classes will be offered in Melbourne, Mountain View, and Salem. This program will be led by recently hired program director/faculty, Brad Houltzhouser, who is a former instructor for Tulsa Welding School. The classes will be offered in Stick, TIG, MIG, and pipe welding techniques to prepare students for American Welding Society (AWS) certifications in the various specialties. The completion of each specialty, typically achieved each sixteen-week semester, will also lead to Certificates of Proficiency awarded by the college, with a Technical Certificate in Welding Technology available after three semesters. Students who complete all courses in the welding curriculum will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding Technology. For more information about the Welding Program, please contact David Carpenter, Division Chair of Applied Sciences and Technologies, by calling 870.368.2064 or email: david.carpenter@ozarka.edu or Rylie Bevill, Director of Admissions, 870-368-2013; email rylie.bevill@ozarka.edu.
