The Ozarka College Diversity and Cultural Events Committee will host an American Voices event featuring Addictions in America. This event will be open to current students, staff, and high schools in the Ozarka College service area. The event is free to attend, but an RSVP is recommended. Guests at Addictions in America are asked to arrive at 9:15 a.m., with the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. on November 16, 2017. This event will take place in the Lecture Hall of the John E. Miller Education Complex in Melbourne.
Addictions in America will feature key-note speaker, Scott Doerhoff, Director of Doerhoff Memorial Foundation. There will also be a panel of experts who will participate in a question and answer session. This is an excellent opportunity for all students, but particularly those majoring in nursing, criminal justice, teaching, and other public services, as they will gain valuable information on interacting with persons who have struggled with addiction in their life or those who have a family member who suffers from an addiction.
The panelists will include representatives from a variety of psychology and sociology fields such as Health Resources of Arkansas, Sharp County Drug Task Force, and Birchtree Communities. For more information, please contact Angela Phipps at 870.368.2060 or email: angela.phipps@ozarka.edu.
