On March 17 and 18, 2016, Ozarka College hosted the fifth annual student nursing conference in Melbourne, Arkansas. Approximately 80 students from Ozarka’s Melbourne, Ash Flat, Mammoth Spring, and Mountain View LPN programs were in attendance.
Tabitha Breshears, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager of CHI St. Vincent’s Infirmary ER and American Foundation of Suicide Prevention representative, spoke to students about suicide prevention. Representatives from UAMS AR SAVES and Community Medical Center of Izard County presented information on strokes. Students had the opportunity to learn about brain injuries while walking through the Mega Brain. Over 100 high school students from Highland, Calico Rock, and Melbourne also came to campus to tour the Mega Brain.
