Rylie Bevill of Calico Rock was named the Ozarka College Academic All-Star at the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges annual All-Star Brunch on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Hot Springs. Each year, AATYC honors top students from the state's 22 two-year colleges, and scholarships are typically offered from a public four-year institution of their choice to complete their four-year degree.
Bevill is a biology and ecology major at Ozarka College who plans to one day earn her master's degree in biology and become a high school science teacher. She is a member of Ozarka College's Beta Alpha Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), a national honor society for two-year colleges, and is active in her community, serving as the president of the 4-H Club for the past four years. After graduating from Ozarka College in May 2013, Bevill plans to attend the University of Arkansas and complete her bachelor's degree in Biology.
"Rylie is an exceptional student," said Dr. Dennis C. Rittle, Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Ozarka is proud she is being recognized for her accomplishments and for the support she receives through this scholarship to continue on her academic journey."
She is the daughter of Mickey and Tamra Bevill of Calico Rock and the granddaughter of Steve and Evelyn Blankenship of Calico Rock and Jackie and Sylvia Bevill of Bearden.
