Continuing Education Department To Offer Basic Welding Skills Course

The Ozarka College continuing education department will offer a basic welding skills course on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 p.m. starting Jan. 21 through Feb. 25. Randall Lovelace will serve as the instructorThe classroom lecture will be taught Jan. 21, Feb. 4, and Feb 18 in Room 112 of the Hall Building on the Ozarka College - Melbourne campus, located at 218 College Dr. The lab will be taught Jan. 28, Feb 11, and Feb. 25 at White River Trailer and Equipment, located at the junction of Hwy 69S and 58W South of Melbourne. Participants will learn introduction to welding principles, proper welding techniques and basic welding repair applications. This course is constructed with the beginners in mind, but is challenging enough to repair broken equipment. Other learning outcomes include learning and understanding the basic functions of welding, including Mig welding, Stick (Arc) welding and using plasma cutters in fabrication. Students will also be able to analyze the best way to repair broken parts and fix them properly by using the right materials and techniques. The cost to attend is $85 and space is limited.
