Whitten Named To Vision 2025

Kim Whitten of Ash Flat has been appointed to the Vision 2015 Legislative Commission on the Future of Higher Education as a designee for Rep. James McLean.Whitten is currently the director of operations at Ozarka College - Ash Flat. She has also served as public relations and marketing specialist at Ozarka College and executive assistant to the chancellor and media relations at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville."It is an honor and privilege to serve on this commission with a diverse group of people from around the state of Arkansas who are as interested in higher education as I am," said Whitten. "Gov. Beebe has charged us to help identify opportunities for higher education to make a positive impact within the state over the next few years.  My perspective comes from the experiences I have in the two-year college community working with the students and the communities we serve in rural north-central Arkansas."According to Act 1082 of 2013, the purpose of the committee is to study, research, and brainstorm ways in which higher education can transform and positively impact the state by 2025 and beyond 2025.Legislative members include Sen. Joyce Elliott, chair, Sen. Johnny Key and Rep. Ann V. Clemmer.Whitten and her husband, James, live in Ash Flat. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.
