Ozarka College recently was named to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list by G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students. This is the fourth year that Ozarka College has been included on the list.
The Military Friendly Schools website, found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, features the list, interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences. The 1,877 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. Sixteen Arkansas colleges and universities are included on this year's list.“As a retired Navy veteran it is a real source of pride that our faculty and staff are so committed to our veterans and eager to give back to them for their dedication and service to our country,” said Ozarka College President Dr. Richard Dawe. “We continue to seek new ways to enhance services for our veterans and their families at Ozarka.”
The 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools ® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. Ernst and Young LLP independently verified the survey tabulation process, methodology and weightings that comprise the 2014 list. Each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country. A full list of board members can be found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/board.
There are 30 active military or veteran students currently enrolled at Ozarka College.
