Kim Whitten began as director of the Ozarka College – Ash Flat campus on Monday, July 22. Whitten served as Ozarka’s public relations specialist from 2002 until 2011, and most recently worked as assistant to the chancellor and coordinator of media relations at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.“Ozarka College plays a vital role in the region by offering affordable education, economic development opportunities and cultural experiences that keep the community engaged,” said Whitten. “I am excited to be a part of that in the Sharp and Fulton County area and look forward to serving Ozarka College in this capacity.”During her time at Ozarka College, Whitten served on the Arkansas Association of Two-Year College’s board of directors and was named Ozarka College’s Outstanding Staff Member in 2004 and 2011. She was recognized at the annual AATYC conference in Hot Springs.“Kim will be an excellent addition to the outstanding staff currently serving on the Ash Flat campus,” said Jason Lawrence, vice president of administration. “Her experience in higher education coupled with her genuine desire to help students succeed will ensure that student success remains a top priority.”Ozarka president, Dr. Richard Dawe, also offered his appreciation for Kim; “Kim is an exceptionally talented team member at Ozarka and we are all so very happy to have her return to lead our Ash Flat campus operations.”Whitten holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Central Arkansas. She and her husband, James, live in Ash Flat and have three grown children; Cody and Amy Whitten, Brooke and Rob DeHaven and Alex Whitten. They are also grandparents to Carlee and River.
